Selenium cysteine is the only form of selenium used by the body''s selenium dependant enzymes. The sulphur atom in the cysteine molecule is replaced by an atom of selenium. There are three selenium dependant enzymes known to date. There are glutathione peroxidase (protects red blood cells and other cells from oxidation reaction), deiodinase (which aids in the conversion of the thyroid hormone thyroxin to the biologically active T3 form) and thioreductase (which protects against oxidation of the amino acid methionine).

Magnesium ascorbate is an excellent source of intracellular ascorbate (Vitamin C). Magnesium (Mg) is a trace mineral that is required for several hundred different biochemical reactions in the body, and is needed by every cell. Half of the magnesium stores are found inside cells of body tissues and organs, and half are combined with calcium and phosphorus in the bone - a tiny amount is found in the blood, which the body works very hard to keep at a constant level.
